    Question

Any idea as to when they will be creating an Historical Asian American Girl Doll? Is AG open to hearing ideas and possible story lines, or are they pretty much insullar?

I haven't heard anything about any storylines, but I've been dreaming about an Asian historical forever.

I think a Chinese girl that came west for the gold rush or building of the railroads would be really neat.

BUT my all time favorite story line would be a Japanese '50s girl whose parents were in the Internment camps. She could be dealing with stresses about being an American girl, but having Japanese heritage, when Americans didn't trust Japanese.

The 1950s clothes would be so cute, and she could also have traditional Japanese items.

That is exactly what I was thinking! Where I live there were a lot of Neiseis (Hope that is the correct spelling!) who farmed and had to give up their land when they were shipped away. There are stories of some farm families helping out Japanese families maintain their farms until they returned. Some even giving them the proceeds from the crops that were harvested from the Japanese familie's land. Now this is an exception, but I was thinking there could be a connection between two families from different cultures. A bridge to heal the wounds from war.

I think the period of 1954 would be perfect, with all of the cool fashion that took place. I also like your idea of the different Japanese items.

    Well, we can always dream.

Yes!!! That would be so cool! Maybe her best friend could be a curly haired red head with freckles, then we'd get both of our wishes!

1950s party dresses were so cute, plus there are a lot of things changing. As another member has said, if she was a California girl, she could go to the Disney Land opening in 1954! I can just imagine the saves the day book taking place there!

    How fun to dream...

Wow! That dress is awesome. Love the bluebird detail. I like the idea of Disneyland. So cool. By the way, did you know that when they opened Disneyland the people who were in charge had a tough decision to make. Should they have working restrooms or drinking fountains? Restrooms won out!

Although, I am not a super fan of Television, it would also be neat to have how the family bought their first TV and how when watching TV was something to marvel at, special and magical.

Like, now I am so, like, totally excited! Pardon my Californian accent. They have to do this!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">LOL, that looks like one of Chatty Cathy's old outfits!

With the emphasis on 1944 with Molly though, I can't see a 50s doll anythime soon even if they did make a new historical.

I like the idea of an Asian American during the 1950s. Maybe another girl could be for the gold rush or trains?

I like a gold rush or Coal Miner's daughter idea for a new historical doll.

http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/muse...y=OBJECT:80236 This could also make a great Meet Outfit for a Japanese doll from the 50's.
